What is NaNoWriMo?
NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. In this class we will be working with the NaNoWriMo Young Writer's Program. We will have the month of November to write a novella of at least 10,000 words. At the end, If you meet your word count goal (10,000 words or more) you get the chance to publish and receive a free copy of your book! - I can develop complex major and minor characters with established internal and external conflicts for a novella.
- I can structure a sequence of events leading to a plot for a 10,000 word novella, including an exposition, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.
- I can develop settings that focus on mood and character reinforcement for a novella.
- I can write robust dialogue, for a novella, using dialogue tags and correct dialogue conventions.
- I can choose words and phrases, including similes and metaphors, which convey sensory details and develop the plots and characters of their novellas.
- I can write and edit a novella with focus on conventions including; spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar usage, and paragraphing.
